New Year; New Intentions

Every year we view the start of a New Year as this monumental time in our lives. It's a time to reflect, to reset, and to set the tone for how you want the next 365 days to go. With it comes excitement, motivation, and sometimes anxiety. There can be a lot of pressure on the new year to start new habits, to achieve big goals, and to change.

While the start of a New Year can act as a motivational spark, it can often be overwhelming and that spark can quickly die out. I believe the secret to setting successful goals, resolutions, intentions, or whatever else you want to call them, is to outline some larger goals you want to work towards and create mini goals that ladder up to the larger, overarching ones. By doing this, you're creating little moments of success along the way and it won't feel so daunting and discouraging.

Our lives are fluid, things happen that change the course unexpectedly all the time, so remember to bring this mindset into your goal setting. Rigid goals that are unable to change or adapt to new life circumstances aren't going to support future growth. Goals are there to help us achieve our desires in life, don't look at them as black and white statements that either happen or don't. They're there to evolve with us, there's no one way of getting there. Think of what you want, and don't want, in your life and go from there.

What do you want to achieve this year?

What are you letting go of?

What do you want to lean into more?

How do you want to show up in your life?

What's holding you back?
