Delicious & nutrient rich smoothie that makes for an excellent start to the day

I love my eggs but I also love a smoothie in the morning, or sometimes for lunch. However, I personally find when I start my day with a hearty smoothie, I stay full and satisfied longer than when I have eggs. To each their own but this one really does it for me. There may be some intimidating flavors in this one when looking at the ingredient list (spirullina? what the hell is that) but there's enough sweetness from the fruit and date that you don't have to worry.

Smoothie or Smoothie Bowl, doesn't matter, it's delicious.

So as you look through the ingredient list, there may be some intimidating flavors in this one (spirulina? what the hell is that) but just trust me. It all comes together in perfect harmony. And if you disagree, throw some eggs in the skillet and call it a day.

Ingredients

Feel free to make this one yours, my measurements and ingredients are there as a guide.

  • small handful of frozen mango

  • 1/3 of a frozen banana

  • 2 large handful of greens (I like kale or spinach)

  • 1 cup of milk (I prefer oat but whatever works)

  • 1-2 tbsp of nut butter (sunflower and cashew are my personal favs)

  • 1 date

  • 2 scoops of Vital Proteins Collagen Beauty Greens

  • 1 scoop of organic spirulina (most come with a scooper) (I use KOS brand)

  • 1 tsp Maca Powder

  • 1 tbps of cocoa nibs (technically optional but I recommend. They add a nice crunchy grit)

  • ice (I usually just do a few cubes)

  • additional water if needed to blend

Optional

  • 1 dropper of Chlorophyll

  • Granola for topping

Mix & enjoy!

Pro Tip

  1. I like to buy a bag of fresh greens and put it in the freezer. When you buy frozen spinach I find it's harder to break it apart after it's been in the freezer but the fresh greens keep their structure better when frozen. It also prevents them from going bad in the fridge. Win win!

  2. This recipe can be served as a smoothie or a smoothie bowl. Adjust the liquid accordingly to get the right consistency based on your preference.

Ingredient Insight
